Honda Brio vs Toyota Wigo: City car brawl

The subcompact hatchback segment in the Philippines is a tightly contested market. This is despite the fact that these cars are significantly smaller than seven-seater MPVs, and SUVs. Why? It’s because these cars are small and easily maneuverable, especially in Metro Manila. Subcompact hatchbacks also cost less to acquire and are easier to maintain. And while these vehicles are indeed diminutive, they are by no means less practical. They even consume less fuel but can still fit up to five people.

As such, major car brands have continued to update their own subcompact hatchbacks. In 2023, there are two models in this segment that received massive changes: the facelifted Honda Brio and the next-generation Toyota Wigo.

To sum it up, the Honda model is larger than the Toyota. The Wigo however, is a bit taller, with a slightly longer wheelbase. This might mean that the Brio has more elbow room than the Wigo, but note that the latter’s longer wheelbase could also mean that it has more legroom.
